Ever since he burst onto the scene as a 19 year old co-producer of Wreckx-N-Effect’s 1992 hit “Rump Shaker,” Pharrell has been no stranger to the spotlight. From a hugely successful production career as one half of the Neptunes, to releasing his own albums both as a solo artist and part of N.E.R.D, and as designer of the streetwear brand Billionaire Boys Club, Pharrell has been a jack of all trades and master of most. Even when taking all that into consideration, 2013 was one of the best years yet for this producer-artist-designer and general King of Cool. With two of the biggest songs of the year and a 24-hour-long music video under his belt, Pharrell’s monster year culminated with a trophy for Record of the Year for the Daft Punk smash “Get Lucky” at last week’s Grammy Awards.
Best of Hard Knock TV recently sat down with the man of the moment for an interesting interview that touches on everything from what inspired him to get into music, what he thinks makes a successful song, his i am OTHER movement and Lorde. Check it, and we apologize in advance for the obnoxious mid-video ad. Smh.
Ps. Does this man ever age?
