Sometimes rapper’s larger than life personas make it easy to forget that Nas was just 18 when penning tracks that would be included on Illmatic, or that Biggie was only 22 when Ready To Die dropped. The drive and focus it requires to achieve so much at such a young age is often overlooked, but every now and then a young artist comes around that exhibits behavior so prodigal and impressive, one has to take notice. While Joey Bada$$ is often top of mind when thinking about sub-20-year-old rappers who are doing their thing, Bishop Nehru is a name that we should all get familiar with because this kid is something special. For a chuuuuuch-worthy Coles Notes on this kid, look no further than this recent post by Hypetrak editor Davis Huynh on Instagram:
While some of you rappers are looking for handouts,@bishopnehru was getting brought out on stage by Nas. While you were get twisted out of your minds, he was finishing up his EP with MF Doom. And while you were chasing thots, he was busy putting in work with UK’S #1act, Disclosure. He’s 17 years old and doing all this himself independently. Take heed.
