7″ Of Pleasure with DJ Illo, Mat The Alien, DJ Pump & Vinyl Ritchie – January 10, 2014

The 7 inch vinyl record, commonly called a 45, is the stuff of legend in the music world. It was the preferred delivery audio format between the years 1950 and 1975, meaning that some of the best music ever created exists pressed into these sweet souls. Before tapes, CDs and eventually MP3s, 45s were THE portable personal music medium for over 40 years. They were small, cute and cheap (usually less than $1 each), making them perfect to collect, share and trade. RCA even came out with different colours, each genre of music having its own. Because of the rich, quirky history of the 45 itself, the amount of material pressed in this format (including the rare B-sides), DJs and vinyl buffs the world over love searching for these little treasures when they dig.

If you’re a vinyl enthusiast or just love good music, don’t miss out on 7″ Of Pleasure, a free jam put together by Broken City and Monster Energy Drink. This is a chance to hear some of Canada’s best DJs rock out on all vinyl, all 45s, all night. DJ Illo, Mat The Alien, Vinyl Ritchie and Calgary’s own DJ Pump are all known throughout Canada for their love for vinyl and especially the little guys, so you know they will be bringing the heat! Best of all, this event free with a donation to the Calgary Food Bank.
